104 West Partners Awarded PRSA Gold Pick for Colorado March of Dimes Campaign

Agency Recognized for its Awareness Generating Campaign During Prematurity Awareness Month

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--104 West Partners, a strategic communications firm, was honored with a Gold Pick Award at the Colorado Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s 2009 Gold Pick Awards Ceremony. The 2009 PRSA Gold Pick Awards held on May 7th at the Ritz-Carlton in Denver celebrated the successes of public relations professionals and organizations that met the highest standards of performance in the profession.

The campaign for the March of Dimes Colorado Chapter, “Tiny Survivors: Colorado’s Fight Against Infant Prematurity,” was executed by 104 West who deployed an aggressive, objectives-driven media relations campaign leveraging the nation’s first Premature Birth Report Card grading each state’s rate of preterm birth. The media campaign ultimately reached more than 2.8 million viewers.

“We’re grateful to 104 West for the strategy and execution they lent this important first-ever communications campaign,” said Shelly Goodchild, state director of the March of Dimes Colorado Chapter. “It was invaluable in advancing awareness of premature birth and ways to prevent it.”

Infant prematurity is a common, serious and costly health problem that affects more than a half a million babies nationwide each year. In Colorado, one in eight babies is born too soon, and it remains the leading cause of babies dying across America within their first year of life.

“The long-term health affects of being born too soon are often devastating yet more can be done by parents, families, researchers and supporters to help prevent it,” said Kathryn Marshall, partner and chief operating officer at 104 West. “We are very passionate about working alongside such an outstanding organization to raise awareness and support for this all-too-common health problem. While this award is a testament to our focus and approach to strategic communications, we are most proud of the fact that it has also brought great awareness to the importance of infant prematurity education.”

Just last week 104 West announced winning three Hermes Creative Awards. This award also comes on the heels of a recent announcement of signing Daily Makeover, a virtual try-on technology, as a new client.

104 West specializes in communicating innovation. The company provides strategic advice and counsel to clients as they forge new markets and evolve their businesses within those markets.
